A day after the Union Cabinet cleared a watered down Lokpal Bill and civil society leader Anna Hazare announced his indefinite fast from August 16, the Delhi Police has denied him permission to use Jantar Mantar for his protest. Unfazed by the refusal to allow the people to exercise their democratic right of peaceful protest, the veteran Gandhian has reiterated his resolve to carry on his campaign against corruption and is prepared to go to jail and even face bullets for the cause. With no sign of accommodation from the government, the battle lines seem to be finally drawn.
